"Move over," came the whisper, and on instinct, Mal reached for his gun.
He blinked when he realized that it was just Kaylee. "What are you doing in my bunk?"
"Can't sleep," she said simply, and it was then when Mal noticed how wide her eyes were. A nightmare, most likely, but he knew that Kaylee wouldn’t admit it.
"Doc ain't taking care of you?" he asked, putting the gun away.
She shrugged, "Simon takes care of me. Now stop being such a hún dàn and scoot over."
Mal sighed, knowing that Kaylee wasn't going anywhere unless she got her way. He moved over, and lifted the blanket up for her. She smiled brightly at him before getting under, and promptly attached herself to his side. He rolled his eyes, but wrapped an arm around her anyway.
"Simon ain't gonna be too happy about this, you know," he said.
"He ain't already," Kaylee said with a yawn, closing her eyes, "Don't worry, I'll work on him. Won't be mad for too long.”
"Any particular reason you chose my bunk?" he asked.
"Like you best, Cap'n," she muttered, burying her face in his neck, "Now shut up and go to sleep."
