So, I asked
athrill for a few Cardcaptor Sakura prompts. I wrote... none of them. /o\. Instead, there's this.
Like I'll never be the same
Cardcaptor Sakura | Tomoyo gen | G | 426 words
For
100_women's #2- ends.
Tomoyo thought that she would love Sakura forever.
She still does, though. Sakura is still the most important person to her, and the fact that Sakura is still smiling everyday makes Tomoyo happy. There was a time though, when she would have love to be the cause of Sakura's happiness.
She wakes up one day, and she still loves Sakura, but she's not in love with her anymore. Tomoyo's not sure what to do about that, how she feels about it. She spends most of the day in a daze, waving off the concern of her friends. Vague smiles are the best she can give them, even when Sakura hugs her tight.
“If you need to talk, let me know,” Sakura whispers.
“Of course!” She smiles at Sakura, because she can't not.
She can't help but feel like something is ending.
::
Meilin is the first person she tells, because, well. Both Syaoran and Sakura are out of the question. She doesn't want to burden her mother with this, and besides, Meilin will understand.
Syaoran isn't her number one person anymore either.
She dials Meilin's number before she can talk herself out of it, and a part of her is disappointed when Meilin picks up on the first ring.
“Hello?” Meilin asks, her voice cheerful. For a moment, Tomoyo debates telling her.
“Meilin-” she begins, but her voice cracks on Meilin's name.
“Dai- Tomoyo? Are you all right?”
“I- are you busy?”
“No, I'll be right over,” Meilin says, and then, true to form, hangs up without saying goodbye.
Tomoyo places her hands in her lap and waits.
::
It only takes Meilin a few minutes to get to her house, and by the time one of the bodyguards lets her into Tomoyo's room, she's panting for air. Her emotions must be plainly written on her face though, because Meilin kneels in front of her chair.
“Tomoyo? What is it?”
The question is enough for the tears to start falling. Meilin makes a sympathetic noise, and that's enough for her to fall forward. Meilin catches her, and Tomoyo buries her face Meilin's neck and cries.
“Is it about Kinomoto?” Meilin asks softly. When Tomoyo nods, she hears Meilin sigh softly.
“I don't- I've loved her for so long- I feel almost empty without it-”
“Hearts change, Tomoyo. It's okay when they do. And just like how you where there when mine did, I'll stay with you.”
Tomoyo nods, and closes her eyes. When she starts to cry harder, Meilin doesn't say a word, and just hugs her tighter.
