Here's my fist (Where's the fight?)
Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles | Kurogane gen (Kurogane/Sakura) | PG | 850 words
Four things Kurogane doesn't regret and one he does.

Tomoyo is by his side right as his vision begins to blur. She grabs one of his hands- the real one, he notes- in both of hers. They're bloody though, and for a panicked moment, he wonders if she's been hurt, if he's failed her. It's when he sees her tears- of sadness, not pain- he realizes that the blood is his, and not hers. He's so stupidly grateful for it that he almost blacks out right then.

“Kurogane,” she whispers, her gaze unwavering.

She's going to be the last thing he sees before he dies, and it resonates as so right that he smiles. He tries to convey everything he's never said to her with it, but he knows that he really doesn't need to.

Tomoyo has always known.

She smiles back him, even though she's crying. He closes his eyes.

Fai's never actually hit him and meant it before, so Kurogane's a little surprised that it hurts. Which is stupid- he's known since the beginning that Fai could fight, and now that he's a vampire, he's even stronger.

He thinks he just didn't except Fai to mean it. And he sure as hell doesn't expect the smile and “this is payback, Kuro-sama.”

He didn't expect Fai to want to see him at all. He had cut off his arm believing that it would be the very thing that drove Fai away, thinking that Fai would hate him, and he had done it anyway. He would do it a thousand times, if it meant that Fai would leave with him. If he would never leave.

Being forgiven was the last thing he expected, but damn if it didn't feel good.

There's too many things he can say now, even with Tomoyo in the room, but he goes for the easiest- he grins, and says, “You bastard, I'll beat you up!”

Sakura kisses him, once, after the whole mess in Tokyo, the first night in Infinity. It's harsh and demanding, her teeth biting into his lip, and exactly the opposite of how- if he had ever imagined- that she would kiss.

He's not sure why she did it, and he's never asked her. If it had been before, he would have stopped her, for too many reasons to name. He was pretty sure that it was her first kiss, that she loved Syaoran, that she was too innocent to be messing around with him.

That would have probably been the reason he gave her.

Now, it would be an excuse, because she's not anymore. Looking at her, it's hard to imagine that she ever was.

Instead, he kisses her back, leaning down so she doesn't have to stand on her tiptoes. Her hands grip his hair almost painfully hard, but he doesn't make her let go.

He has a feeling she needs something to hold on to, and if that was what she needed, then it's what he can give.

He's lost sight of Fai, but he's not too worried about it. Even without his magic, Fai is more than capable of taking care of himself.

Though Syaoran- this one- can take care of himself just fine as well. He slices through the guards with ease, using his magic as easily as Kurogane has ever seen magic be used. Still, even if he's not the same kid he knew, Kurogane finds himself looking out for him, making sure that he's alright.

Besides, Syaoran will lead him right to Fei Wong Reed. Even if he doesn't get to kill him, Kurogane wants to make sure that the bastard's dead, even if it's likely to be the very last thing he does.

::

He's glad that everything is over, even if saying goodbye is harder than what he would have imagined it to be.

Sakura hugs him tightly, and she's already crying. Even if she's not exactly the girl that he began this insane journey with, she's one of the ones that he ended it with. Besides, she has the same heart, the same soul, so he lets her. Hugs her back, even. She loves just the same, and maybe even more importantly, he loves her just the same.

Syaoran just gives him a nod and a half smile. Kurogane does the same, and they have ten conversations with that alone. It's enough.

“So, this is it, Kuro-sama?” Fai asks, smiling sadly.

“I suppose so. It's not as if you need me anymore, huh?” Kurogane tilted his head to the side. Fai's stared back at him. It was like looking at the kid working for Yuuko- one gold, one blue.

“I guess.” Fai pauses, as if he's mentally debating something. Kurogane wishes that whatever it is, he would just do it.

“I'm going to miss you, Kuro-daddy. So will the kids,” he grins. Kurogane grunts at that, but Fai's smile just widens.

“Back to Nihon?” Yuuko questions, looking as untouchable as ever. Kurogane pauses, and looks at the three of them.

He just nods.
