getaway_machine. vaguely tifa/aeris, cause she didn't say who, and these are my girls. 198 words, g like whoa. title from embrace's nature's law
“I wish I had gotten to see you. I mean, I understand- Cloud needed you more. He needed to be forgiven of something that you never blamed him for- I know. You helped give him back to us, to me, and I can’t thank you enough.”
Tifa paused, suddenly feeling stupid for talking out loud, even if the church was empty. Cloud had kept his promise in the end- he came home to them. Still, Aeris had really- according to Cloud, anyway- only made herself visible to him. Tifa doubted that the girl could hear her, assuming that she would even listen.
“I just- I miss you too,” she finished lamely.
She sighed, letting her fingers dangle in the water. Even a few weeks later the incident with Kadaj, the pond hadn’t left- another mark of Aeris left on the planet. It made Tifa smile sadly, even though all she wanted to do was cry.
“We move on though,” Tifa said, standing, “I won’t forget- none of us will. Thank you.”
She smiled again, and turned to leave, her footsteps echoing in the church. She didn’t hear the soft giggle, or the sweet scent of flowers.
“You’re welcome.”
