Can we tell it's been ages since I've written for HP and longer than that since I've written Sirius/Remus?
dogdaysofsummer: day 01, warm stone
moon stone, g, 201 words
For once, Sirius is both silent and still. Remus can’t help but wonder if something is wrong with him- even when he was sleeping, Sirius was always snoring, always turning.
Remus doesn’t ask though. The heat is making him lazy, and the sound of the waves hitting the shore is enough to lull him to sleep. The impromptu trip to the beach (Lily’s idea, and James could never tell her no) was shaping up to be a good thing for all of them, even if he was getting sand in uncomfortable places.
“Here,” Sirius said.
Remus blinked when something warm landed on his chest. He frowned before picking it up- a stone. It was white, small and smooth, and Remus knew why Sirius chose that one instead of another. He knew what it reminded them both of, and for a second, hated Sirius for it. He rubbed it between two fingers before finally gazing at Sirius.
What’s this for, then? he wanted to ask. He knew he was already asking it, with a raised eyebrow. Sirius only smiled at him crookedly, before standing. Remus watched him as he left, running up to James.
His hand closed around it, keeping it warm.
