Jackie sighed softly as she brushed Rose’s hair from her face. It seemed that Rose would never be quite- not really whole. Both Mickey and Pete had both tried to talk to her, but Jackie knew that they couldn’t understand.
Jackie did. Rose was behaving exactly like she had, when Pete had died. It had taken her so long to be able to function, and she was sure that Rose was the only reason she had even tried. She had been alright without him, but it wasn’t until she and Pete had reunited that she was really… herself again.
Rose, according to the Doctor, would have no such luxury. Rose would have to let time, space, and an alternate dimension heal her, and Jackie knew that it would take a while.
It would happen though. Rose had proven herself to be stronger than what she realized.
“It’s okay to miss him, sweetheart. And it’s okay to not forget him. Just remember that before you were his, you were my Rose. And we both love you. I’ll always be there for you- I promise.”
Jackie leaned over, and kissed her forehead. She stood and began to leave. She was in the doorway when Rose’s voice made her pause.
“I love you Mum.”
“Love you too, sweetheart,” Jackie whispered, and closed the door.
