Feb. 24th, 2007 08:39 pman untitled firefly drabble for
britfacexx, that was supposed to have the entire crew, but only ended up with mal and kaylee. not what i had hoped in general, but it's been awhile since i've written firefly, and it shows a lot. um, sorry. g, 277 words.
Mal knew that his crew wanted a vacation. Hell, after what he had dubbed the 'Miranda Incident'- though, only in his head, since none of them ever really talked about it- he knew that they deserved one. Not that he was going to tell any of them that.
Still, he hadn't expected to just wake up, and be in the middle of one.
"Ain't really in the 'middle' of one," Kaylee said, once he had stopped yelling at her. He hadn't been surprised when he found out that it had been her idea, and that the rest of his crew was nowhere to be found. "We did, after all, just get here."
Mal scowled darkly, "I don't recall asking you for your mouth, Kaylee."
She just crossed her arms over her chest. "No, you didn’t. You didn’t ask any of us anything. If you had, you'd know that all of us need a break. It's been nothing but work and one close call after another. We can't keep goin' on like this Captain, and neither can you."
Mal hated it when Kaylee stood up to him- especially when they both knew that she was right. Finally, he just sighed, and nodded. She let out a squeal of delight, and threw her arms around him, kissing his cheek happily.
"Thank you, Captain!"
"Don't know what you're thanking me for. You all had already decided it- you're a mutinous group of bastards," he grumbled, but Kaylee's smile was infectious.
"It'll be great, I know it!" she said, before she ran off.
He sighed- now, of course, they were bound for trouble. He'd let Jayne bring the grenades this time.
