for 100_women's #59- afternoon. this did not work the way i wanted it do, but i blame the one in the morning thing and the i suck thing. title stolen from jennifer paige's sober.


Once, before Heaven, and even before Tara and Riley, Buffy and Willow would send any free time they had with each other. Buffy would make sure that the blinds had been pulled up and that the windows were opened so that the light would come through. It didn't matter what they did- homework, movies, or hang out with Xander- anything they had was enough.

"Quality girl time," Willow said once, her smile bright. Buffy had to duck her head so that Willow wouldn't see the blush that suddenly crossed her face.

After Sunnydale, they work on reconnecting, but the apartment Buffy shares with Dawn is a lot different from their dorm room. They're different. For worse, or better, they just are, even with a Kennedy and other slayers and what feels like a lifetime between them now.

Now though, it's after Heaven, and after Tara and Riley, and Buffy really has missed her best friend. So she pulls back the curtains, and opens the window. Willow's smile fills her with warmth that rivals the sun's.

It might not have worked the way that you wanted it to, but I think it still worked -- it made me awww a lot, and it makes me miss my Buffy/Willow friendship icon. Man, I love them.

Awwww. I really liked this. And I think that post-Chosen, this is really what it would be like for them.
