doesn't even matter

harry potter- harry/luna
um. this is bad, mostly cause i have no emotional attachment to this pairing- i love the idea of it, but i have no idea as to how i would execute it, so this is rather poorly done.
He's lost count of how many things in his life that were out of his control. There's only a few that he doesn't regret.
One of them is sitting at his kitchen table, in his shirt, wand tucked behind her ear. She's reading- what, he can't tell, but it doesn't matter.
For the longest time, he thought that it would be Ginny. He had hoped that it would be Ginny, but. He had learned a long time ago that life never worked out for him, at least, not the way that he wanted it to.
And he didn't regret it. Luna had lost none of her oddness, and he was convinced that she was mental, but she was his, and he loved her.
"You're thinking about her again," Luna said, though there was no anger in her voice. She was just matter of fact about it. She glanced at him from under her hair, eyes wide.
"I was," he admitted, because, well, he didn't like lying to her.
Luna nodded, going back to reading, content to ignore him again. He took the seat next to her, and just watched her.

Date: 2007-05-31 04:14 am (UTC)Harry knew what he wanted in life. He wanted to live as a normal wizard. He wanted to be Mr. Weasley and have a job a wife and kids. He wanted a 9 to 5.
Then he realized that he wanted to become everything his aunt and uncle ever wanted him to become.
He stopped trying so hard after that and everything fell apart. Sirius died.
He still wakes up, wrapped in her arms years and years later. Ragged bits of cloth blowing about in his mind and she rolls over on top of him and smiles, her eyes glassy. She straddles him and whispers in his ear, “You heard the voices, Harry. Think of what it could mean.” And as he reaches for her she slides back, lower on his hips and he groans.
He’s lost it all, but he’s found Luna. He found the one person willing to look and see what isn’t there to be seen. He clings to her and she whispers.
“Harry Potter, you’ve done so much and so much more there is to come.” She laughs like a mad woman and it doesn’t remind him of Belatrix.
