kingdom hearts- jasmine, belle, kairi, sora/riku/kairi

Needless to say, Jasmine had not pleased with her father for making her attend the ball that King Mickey had thrown, in honor of Sora. And alright, it was Sora, who she adored, but still. As a Princess of Heart, her presence was highly requested. Protocol, and all that, but it didn't mean that she was required to like it.

Really, it was just because she didn't like most of them- the other princesses.

Which really, was rather unfair and very un-Princess of Heart like of her, but really. All pure of heart they might be, but Kairi and Belle were the only ones she really liked- they were the only ones with a sense of adventure.

She had no use for prim and proper. Alice, though young, was already the same mold as the other ones- waiting for her prince to come and rescue her, never entertaining the thought of being anything more.

And really, the damn dress that those fairies stuck her in- they had taken one look on her and made a 'tsk' noise in the back of their throat. On her way out, she could hear one of them go "It's that boy she's engaged to, what was her father thinking?"

Still, it had been Kairi who was getting the brunt of the gossip and scrutiny, showing up to the ball with both of her boyfriends. For that alone, Jasmine would have liked her- the girl had the class to pull it off with dignity, and wasn't shying away under pressure.

"You know," Belle said, resting her chin in her palm, "I'm not even a princess. The Beast and I? Not married by a long shot."

Jasmine had to grin at that. "I've been engaged- well, it feels like forever. I will be Sultana very soon. A princess no longer, hopefully."

"True. But then you will have more of these," Belle replied, waving her hand. Jasmine looked around the room, and made a face. So many pretenses, and she knew that she would be objected to them for the rest of her life.

She was happy that her marriage would be absent of that, at least, and thanked her father silently for removing that stupid law.

"Please. I am going in my father's stead. I will have Agrabah to worry about, and not these silly events."

Belle smiled, as if she was just indulging her. She probably was, and Jasmine had opened her mouth to call her on it, when a shadow fell over them.

"Well, at least you two have a valid reason to be here," Kairi said, taking the lat free seat at the table, "I don't have a domain at all, no royalty that I know of- I'm just a girl who happens to have boyfriends that saved the world."

"With the way the others talk-" Belle began, but Kairi shook her head.

"Let them. Riku is just as good as Sora is- has done as much as Sora-"

"That's obvious, Kairi- I doubt either you or Sora would care for him so much if he wasn't," Belle interrupted softly, "We aren’t the ones you need to convince, Kairi,"

"Who said I needed to convince anyone?" Kairi muttered.

"Spoken like a true princess," Jasmine smirked, and held up her glass in a toast.
