Fic that no one else but me will care about! But that's okay, I really just needed something to post today.

friendship that no one else could touch
fall out boy | pete/patrick | g | 587 words
this is just fluff. no redeeming qualities whatsoever, but it made me feel better.

Everyone is a surprised that after Fall Out Boy disbands, Pete and Patrick stay friends. Most people had thought that it was a collision of egos, or that Pete wanted more fame, or that Patrick got tired of making music.

They usually laugh at that, or try to find people who blame it on Joe or Andy (the general consensus was that if it was their fault, then they got tired of being of being in the background) but mostly, they just laugh.

Pete, if he has his way, is keeping Patrick forever.

Patrick is used to making sure that Pete gets his way.

It hadn't been a big deal, for any of them. They hadn't even really talked about it, but at the last show- in Chicago, which they all agreed had been fitting- they just knew that when they got off the stage that it was their last show, even if the crowd hadn't.

"I love you fuckers," Pete had said, the words muffled by Joe's shoulder. They held on to each other tight, knowing it was over, and almost wishing that it wasn't.

Patrick had kissed his temple, and had closed his eyes.

Once the press caught on, it had been a little crazy. Between rumors and interviews, their lives had been swamped, almost more so than when they had actually been a band. Patrick lost count of the questions, but after a while, they all just ended up being why. Joe wanted a family. Andy wanted to do other things. Patrick wanted to produce. Pete wanted to focus on his label.

So the first time that Pete and Patrick are photographed at some restaurant together, Pete laughing hysterically, people are more than a little surprised.

Well, not everyone. When asked if their producer and boss still being friends came as a surprise, Ryan Ross rolled his eyes so hard that Brendon had giggled, a little bit.

"Yeah, no. It's Pete and Patrick, it's hard to imagine them not being friends," he had said, tilting his head to the side.

"Yeah," Brendon had added, "It's like, facts of the universe. Water is wet, the sky is blue, and Pete and Patrick will be friends until the world ends."

The interviewer had raised her eyebrow, but Ryan had just smirked. Sometimes, the joke really was on everyone else.

They still get together, the four of them. Not as often as they'd like, but that's what cell phones and the internet were for. Pete was the first person Joe told when Marie was pregnant. Andy sends them emails almost every day. Pete still makes the tabloids all the time- even though he and Ashlee are long finished (friends, though, and that's a little new) but Patrick prefers to hear right from the source, so he sees Pete more than any of them. Which is reasonable- they still work together, technically. Most of the bands that Patrick produces for are on Decaydance.

It's comfortable, and Patrick loves him as much as he ever has.

Pete pokes him with his toe, ignoring Andy and Joe, who are fighting over what channel to watch. "You okay?"

Patrick smiles, and nods. Pete looks at him, his expression unreadable. He sits next to Patrick on the sofa though, and cuddles close.

"Hi," Patrick whispers, wrapping both arms around Pete.

"Hi," Pete says back, raising an eyebrow. "Are you sure you're all right?"

"More than all right," Patrick admits. He won't say anything else, but it's Pete- he always knows.
