man, writing everyday is kind of like learning to walk again. maybe it will start to get good sometime soon. i hope. there's 300 plus words of sora/kairi/riku:
A part of Kairi -a large part, too- thought that things would be alright once they were home. They were together again, and while that was enough to keep her nightmares at bay, but not theirs. Especially Riku's.
She sighs softly when she sees both of them on their backs, head turned towards the sky. They both look so listless, so tired that her heart just breaks for them. She sits next to Riku, uncaring of the wet sand sticking to her legs.
Sora gives her a smile, but it's a little forced. She misses his goofy grins more than anything, with the exception of Riku's smiles, which don't come at all anymore.
"I miss you guys," she admits.
That makes Riku turn to her, and Sora's smile fade into a confused expression. She pulls her knees up to her chest, wrapping her arms around her legs.
"It's like- a part of you guys are still gone," she says, staring at the water, "Still fighting, and I can't go with you. I can't help."
A hand touches her leg, and she turns to look at Riku.
"You help," he whispers.
"Of course you do," Sora insists, "You're why we fought so hard in the first place."
She smiles, and looks down. Sora crawls to the other side of her, and hugs her close. Riku sits up, and wraps his arms around them both. She hates herself for it but she breaks down into tears. They hold her through it, letting her bury her face in Riku's neck and holding Sora's hand tightly.
"We're home," Sora says softly.
She nods, but doesn't say anything. They just sit there quietly, until they end up lying in the sand, limbs tangled together. She's not sure how long they're there, but there's a soft snore right in her ears- both of them are asleep, peacefully, by the looks of it.
Kairi smiles, and closes her eyes.
